How can I apply the current use of technology in the daily life of my students using ISTE Standards for Students?
Creativity and Innovation
I will give each student a week to create a name tag that represents themselves. Each student will present and describe their name tag in front of the classroom. The students and I will be able to ask questions, make inferences, and discuss diversity related to the information given to us by each presenter.
Communication and Creativity
I can create a graffiti wall of paper and enlist my students to go home or to the library and research information on the lesson. Throughout the lesson, my students can write facts on the graffiti wall that they discovered and they feel would be interesting to their classmates.
Research and Information Fluency
I can assign a group research project that will require students to work together, and present their research to the class through use of Power Point and other technology.
Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making
I can assign short- and long-term group projects that will require the students to choose a topic, organize their time in an individual and group setting, appoint the role each student will have during the project, and present the research together in a timely manner.
Digital Citizenship
I will impress upon my students to share in their responsibility in doing the research, use the strengths of each student when choosing the role of researching and presenting their project, understand the value of acquiring knowledge and not plagiarizing.
Technology Operations and Concepts
The students will have to save projects and research papers to a flash drive, display knowledge of Power Point, incorporate the use of links and other technology into their projects and research papers.
